Whit’s Wisdom: Your Actions Should Always Line Up With Your Words

I remember as and when I was a little girl and before entering Wal-Mart to shop with my mom, she specifically told me, “Do not ask or beg me for anything in this store.” There was a doll that spotted me, yes, the doll spotted me because I was minding my business and being obedient. And of course I had to have her. So what did I do? I begged for this Barbie doll to be mine.

My mom was calm and looked me square in the eyes and said, “No. I told you not to come in here and asked for anything. So I’m gonna get you when we get home.”  I’m saddened in the store, but by the time we got home, I was cool and I figured moms forgot her plans to “get me.” Unfortunately, she didn’t forget. She definitely got me that day and one thing is for sure, I never have had to question my moms integrity. She is definitely a woman of her word, full of integrity.

Integrity is a concept of consistency of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations, and outcomes. Internal consistency is the key to integrity. It’s important for the things you confess from your mouth and the values you profess to have are aligning with your actions. Otherwise you’d become this corrupted individual, full of malarkey!

Integrity is what helps you align your actions in all that you do.

Walk the walk
I have a friend who asked me why was it so hard to find love. I responded with a question: if this is what you want, are your actions aligning with that?  If we say we want “x”, we can’t do “z” things to get “x” results.

Talk the talk
Don’t be the pot who calls the kettle black. Practice what you preach. These sayings prompt us to look in the mirror. Before you go judging someone remember your shortcomings, your past and the dark things that haven’t reached light! I always say, I don’t want anyone “ministering” to me that is  afraid to share their struggle and constantly judging someone. That usually means they are hiding even more!

At the end of the day you want to be respected for keeping your word and being consistent. Integrity builds trust.

Keep pressing and add some integrity in your life so you can walk the walk and talk the talk.
