“You only live once; that’s the motto n***a YOLO…”
– Drake, The Motto
Ok, so I have a few confessions to make about this whole Y.O.L.O. movement.
Confession #1: I didn’t know what Y.O.L.O. was EVEN THOUGH I had heard the song…I think I finally found out what it meant shortly after New Years Eve.
Confession #2: When I did find out what it meant, I made it my ringtone. *Lowers head in shame…don’t judge me!*
Confession #3: The only time I’ve actually shrugged and said “YOLO!” was as and when I was in New Orleans about a month ago and I was debating on trying this $8-9 cheesecake candy apple from Rocky Mountain Chocolate.
I’ve always viewed YOLO as a movement to encourage living life to the fullest, but in a responsible, meaningful kind of way – similar to 100 In a Year.
Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of people express their disapproval of the way others were living up to its meaning. I don’t think “the motto” was meant for people to rob banks, have unprotected bad word on the first night with a bad wordy stranger, do drugs or any madness like that.
A video posted today by Clutch showed how easily YOLO can go wrong. Take a look for yourself and let me know what you think!
