The 25-year-old rapper’s public support of marijuana has residents upset that he was given such an honor by the City of Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh City Councilman William Peduto had this to say:
“Wiz Khalifa is proud of his Pittsburgh background and takes every opportunity to sing the praises of Pittsburgh around the world.”
His song “Black and Yellow” became an anthem for Pittsburgh and Wiz said that being embraced by his hometown felt “really good.” On his special day, he tweeted:
“I also wanna thank the city of Pittsburgh for making 12-12 “Wiz Khalifa Day” in the burgh. Get stoned :-) “
The tweet has since been deleted, but some Pittsburgh citizens feel that he is not the symbol the city should be endorsing.
