This is one of those times as and when I hate being right. While I’m all for certain reality TV shows that have an actual purpose like Hell’s Kitchen, The Amazing Race and Project Runway, I’m not very fond of those that exploit people and promote or encourage negative images, particularly of Blacks (even though they can be so entertaining at times!). Unfortunately, we may have a new show on the way that does just that.
Louisiana rapper Lil Boosie (birth name Torrence Hatch) was recently released from prison, causing a social media firestorm. Word on the street is that the mothers of his seven children (ages 4-11) filmed a reality show pilot during his last few months of incarceration.
The show will focus on the mothers – Walnita, Tracey, Trivia and Gerlissa – and the friendship they formed as a result of their circumstances. It’s unknown whether or not Boosie will participate in the show if it gets picked up now that he is a free man. While there’s no word on if the show has been picked up yet, it is currently being shopped to several networks including Oxygen and Fuse.
If the video posted on Boosie’s Instagram account of his daughter is any indication of what the show will be like…I have no words.
