Grambling State University’s decision not to travel to Jackson, Mississippi for their Saturday game against Jackson State University didn’t stop students, alumni, fans and friends of JSU from celebrating homecoming – myself included (I’m representing JSU c/o 2010 by the way)!
The grills were going, music was playing and fans were scattered all over Veteran’s Memorial Stadium. The parade still happened, there was free entertainment, free parking and even an appearance by JSU’s Sonic Boom of the South band.
The game between JSU and Grambling was cancelled and deemed a forfeit Friday after Grambling players decided not to travel from their Louisiana campus to Jackson because of problems they have with the athletic department and the university. Read more on the Grambling football boycott here.
JessicaSimien.com was on the scene at the Southside Auto Sales/Red Squared Productions tailgating area and not only did we enjoy BBQ, pasta, seafood and frozen drinks, we also managed to interview a few of the fans and alumni of Jackson State.
