Little girls these days are beginning to really love their natural hair and we can thank all the beautiful black women rocking their kinks for that. This week I recruited my love bug for a natural hair tutorial and style inspiration video for kids.
I’m not very good with hair typing but Serenity’s hair is very thick and multi-textured. The center of her hair is much kinkier than the perimeter and back and her curl pattern looks similar to ringlets. As I mentioned in the video, it doesn’t have much hold so styles that involve flat twists don’t really work for her texture. I’m sure it could but I haven’t mastered that yet.
The video below is a quick tutorial for a fun mohawk style on stretched hair. It has to be one of the easiest styles to recreate. Take a look at how we achieved it below!
An alternate way to create this style is to roll the hair using perm or flexi rods and you can also do a twist out first and let the ponytails hang. Also adding accessories like blinged out hair pins on the side would look cute as well, depending on the occasion.
Before you go, make sure you visit Serenity’s blog that she mentioned by clicking here. It’s a work in progress and she’s excited about learning the ropes. Please show her some support! :)
