This is a hard post to write, particularly because it’s forcing me to look at how thick and gorgeous my hair used to be and I’m kicking myself for not taking care of it like I should have.
I did the big chop on April 6, 2011 and I was so excited to be taking the natural hair plunge. Seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever been as excited about hair as I was on that day. I’ve shared my natural hair story several times so I won’t give you the whole spill, but my excitement began to fade around year one and a half.
I get bored very easily and there are only so many protective styles a girl can do! I began to use dyes, bleach, heat (blow drying) and I completely abandoned my weekly routine. In the video below, I go into more detail and offer a few pieces of advice. Don’t forget to subscribe to my channel –> click here.
Here are a few photos of my hair over the years before and during the damage.
I don’t have many struggle pics because I obviously didn’t want to take photos of my bad hair but these are shown in chronological order from my big chop to as it grew and I colored it and then colored it back to black.
