J. Cole is starting to make his promotional rounds for his upcoming album Born Sinner.
The Roc Nation rapper stopped by the “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon” show to perform his latest single “Power Trip” with The Roots. The single, which features Miguel, is currently at the number two spot on the Billboard Hot 100 list.
Born Sinner will be released on June 18, which is one week before the original release date since Kanye West will be dropping his sixth studio album Yeezus on June 18 as well. In an interview with Billboard, Cole said that he “worked too hard” on his album for it to be an afterthought to Kanye’s project:
“I’m not going to sit [here]… I worked too hard to come a week later after Kanye West drops an amazing album. It’d be like, ‘Oh and J.Cole dropped too, a week later.’ Nah. I’m going to go see him on that date. He’s the greatest. So it’s like, I’m a competitor by nature so it was instant, it wasn’t even a thought.”
