We’re huge advocates of entrepreneurship over here, especially as and when it involves teaching children how to come up with ideas for their own businesses. We had the pleasure to sit in on Aubrey Norman’s (the owner of Downtown Cafe) presentation to the young boys of the Magnolia Bar Foundation Law Camp at Jackson State University.
“It all starts with an idea,” Norman told the group as he shared how he developed the concept of his first business, a screen printing gig he started while in high school. He went on to share with the group how important it is to write down their ideas, even when others don’t believe them.
In an interactive session, the group came up with their own spin on Norman’s famous chicken and waffle dish and one lucky camper won an gift certificate to Norman’s restaurant, Downtown Cafe.
