I totally wanted you to read the title of the post in the tune of Katy Perry’s song…did you? (Let me know in the comments section!) Anyway, you read it right – I got my “V” steamed! I’ve heard lots about this treatment and rather than make assumptions or judgements, I wanted to try it for myself.
It really helped that I could get it done locally after a friend of mine opened up a spa, Body Party Studios, in the Pearl area. I felt more at ease with getting it done by someone I know and someone who has also had the treatment. I wasn’t nervous, I was excited. Overly excited to be exact. Tony was so happy that I was actually getting it done because he was tired of me talking about it.
Vaginal steaming (or V-steaming for short) is an alternative health practice for women where you squat or sit over a pot of steaming water containing various herbs. It’s believed to have a number of benefits such as reducing the pain associated with menstrual cramps, regulating your monthly period, boosting the wetness of your vagina through increased blood flow, tightening the vagina, helping with fertility and so on.
According to some doctors, there isn’t any actual evidence that V-steaming actually does everything that it claims to do but I wanted to try it anyway.
When I made it to the spa I didn’t really know what to expect. Oddly, I wasn’t nervous at the thought of something happening to my lady parts…I just wanted to feel it! LOL! I had to undress from the waist down and I was draped with a glamorous gold cape to cover up. Tanya made sure the water was at a comfortable temperature so that the steam wouldn’t burn and we had to make a minor adjustment once I actually sat over the water and the heat began to penetrate my insides.
The smell of the herbal mixture was heavenly. I’m a big tea drinker and I literally felt like I was sitting over a pot of tea. It was very relaxing and after it was all over I felt like I’d taken a really good bath. I felt so clean!
I didn’t have sex after and my cycle had just gone off so I can’t say whether or not it actually worked in those areas…all I know is that it felt great. I was happy to be a woman, I felt so liberated and free.
Tanya recommended that you have these done after your cycle goes off and at a frequency of about once a month. I’m a month overdue but will be steaming again.
