A Tribute To Beautiful Black Women From Back In The Day

My honey always says, “There’s nothing like a Black woman.” I agree wholeheartedly with him too.

A few weeks ago, I was watching the 1992 film, “Boomerang,” starring Eddie Murphy and I was so entranced with the beauty of the women in the film. Not a manufactured beauty – a natural beauty that they all seemed to possess no matter their skin color or hair texture. My fascination led me to start comparing those women to many of the women we see on television and the big screen now. Their beauty doesn’t look as natural and effortless. I don’t think women are getting less pretty, I think women these days do way too much to create this perception of beauty that they already have.

I used to be guilty of it too. Putting on way too much makeup, darkening my eyebrows to the point that they didn’t look real, thinking I wasn’t beautiful as I could be because I didn’t have the body of Kim Kardashian…But watching Boomerang that evening caused me to have an “aha moment” and I realized that less is more and I can be beautiful without looking like I took a Clown 101 makeup class.

Here are a few images, in no particular order, of beautiful black women from back in the day (and I few present-day beauties) that have inspired me to keep it simple and let my natural beauty shine through!
