The INTERN EXPERIENCE: Arial Realizes She Has Been Limiting Herself

Last week, I went with Jessica to hear her, along with others, speak about their profession. They spoke about getting your foot in the door whether it’s radio, blogging or another possible job. Let me just say I learned a whole lot!

Denise Brooks, a local radio Programming Director, who has worn many hats said everything I needed to hear. She spoke about beating the odds, being professional and pursuing something that society says you shouldn’t. I felt so inspired to stop burying my inner passions and letting my creativity shine. This is who I am, this is what I have a passion for, and I didn’t know I was capable of any of this because I didn’t try.

After the program, Jessica and I had lunch. This was a time for me to pick her brain. Jessica shared things with me that I needed to hear as well. I say I don’t limit myself, but I do. Jessica helped me realize that I have to beat the odds! Just because I appear to not look like what society says I should look like, I have the grind for it. It’s amazing for people to see things in you that you don’t always see in yourself.

I think this is my loudest testimony: if it’s in you, act on it.

Don’t keep your talents from the world, they are meant for you to share! I thought I was working hard, but not hard enough because I was insecure about what I am capable of. I’ve made it clear that I WILL WORK HARDER!!
