I love Rihanna‘s music but she’s becoming harder to like and admire. She’s an example of how your reputation and behavior can supersede any good work and deeds that you’ve done.
Alexis Carter, 16, was confident that she would turn heads at her high school’s Hollywood themed prom in an outfit designed for her based on one worn by former idol, Rihanna.
“I was like, ‘Oh my God, I love this outfit, I wanna go with this outfit let me go show my mom,’ and I was like, ‘Mom, mom, mom, I wanna wear this, it’s cool, I love it, oh my God.'”
At prom, her outfit was a hit. Carter says that everyone liked her outfit and was telling her that it looked good on her and was different.
The next day, photos of her outfit and some of her poses began to spread through social media. On Twitter, the hashtag #PromBat began to trend with photos making fun of Alexis and her outfit. What was most hurtful to Alexis was the fact that Rihanna joined in.
“I was very offended. Why throw shade on it when you had on the exact same thing. The poses was different but the outfit wasn’t.”
Five days after her prom, the cyberbullying continued. Alexis says she’s afraid to show her face at school but will speak her mind about Rihanna. She said:
“She don’t love her fans like she says she does.”
My two cents on this: this is a 16-year-old kid. The outfit wasn’t as bad as people are making it seem and it fit her very well. I think the pose is what made it so bad, not the actual outfit. Regardless, Rihanna should be too busy to join in on the heckling of someone on Twitter. Like, don’t you have millions of dollars to manage and tracks to record in the studio?
