I’m not much of a jewelry girl, but when I am, I enjoy one of a kind, eccentric styles…especially when it comes to earrings. When I was offered the opportunity to try out a pair of locally handmade ear candy, I happily (and eagerly) accepted!
Xcessory Freex (pronounced ‘accessory freaks’) is a jewelry brand, designed and created by Thabi Moyo. She created this line for people like me, who love discovering jewelry that fits their unique personality.
Since I moved back to Jackson about two years ago, I’ve made it a priority to shop and support our local business owners. There’s something about having a relationship with the person providing you a service that makes it super special and your purchase meaningful. Thabi puts a loving touch on her pieces that, in my opinion, can only come from local crafters.
Thabi’s pieces are influenced by the universe and her connections to Zimbabwe and Mississippi. She uses aluminum, copper, steel, semi-precious stones and crystals to create her pieces.
I really wanted the music note earrings because of my own connections to music. My father has played musical instruments his entire life and my honey is also a musician. Not to mention I just really love music and use it to relieve stress, get through good and bad times and as a source of inspiration.
I thought the earrings would be heavy but they’re not at all! They are actually very lightweight, probably the most lightweight earrings I own. It’s really hard to find earrings with cool designs and lengths that aren’t heavy so I was very happy about that.
When I received them I was trying to come up with a creative way to share them with you and I thought…why not include my summer playlist??
In the video below, you can watch me listening to a few of the songs in rotation on my summer playlist as I get ready for the day. I included new music from mainstream artists as well as local, independent artists.
Check it out below!
You’ll watch me get ready while listening to a few of the tracks on my summer playlist. For a full list of the music and products I used, click here.
Xcessory Freex celebrated their first birthday this summer so Thabi’s rolling out new designs and an anniversary event in observation of this special milestone. To stay in touch with her and be the first to know about new designs, follow Xcessory Freex on Instagram @xcessoryfreex.
Happy listening and accessorizing!
