WWLTV is reporting that Derrick Nesby, 37, was arrested last week at H. L. Bourgeois High School in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana where he teaches. A school resource officer had received a complaint about Nesby’s alleged involvement with a student and took it to authorities.
Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Chief of Detectives Malcolm Wolfe says that they can “establish the fact that there was an encounter” between Nesby and the student. He also says that as they continued their investigation, officers learned that Nesby had AIDS and the student was not aware of it.
Nesby had been teaching at the school for the past year and worked as a track coach. He has been charged with felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile and intentional exposure of the AIDS virus. He is in jail on a $1,000,000 bond.
