On September 7 in Moreno Valley, California, two gunmen claimed the life of 6-year-old Tiana Ricks and wounded her father, Tyrell Ricks Jr., 26, outside of their family home.

The shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. as and when two unknown men approached Tiana and her father and opened fire. It was a family gathering, so everyone assumed that the two men were guests but that quickly changed.

As Tiana was beginning to join the others in the backyard, she was shot in the shoulder with the bullet passing through her body and wounding her father. It was said that neither Tiana or guests knew she was hit. They quickly learned that she had been shot when her face started to lose color and she began gasping for her. A neighbor performed CPR on Tiana in her garage until the paramedics arrived. Police believe the shooting was gang related but Ricks states that he is not apart of any gangs.

Sadly, Tiana didn’t survive her injuries but her father Tyrell, was released from the hospital Monday. Rapper The Game, a California native, heard about the tragedy and reached out to Marquia Macklin, Tiana’s mother. The Game is giving the family $10,000 to cover all funeral costs. This is just one of The Game’s generous contributions, he plans to give away $1,000,000 to those in need, calling it “The Robinhood Project”.

A vigil was held for Tiana on September 9 and the funeral is said to be held this Saturday.
