Samsung is making power moves, taking its technology to the basketball court.
The National Basketball Association has signed a three-year, $100 million deal with Samsung, making it the league’s official provider of tablets and televisions. The South Korean company will provide the courtside monitors that referees use to review close calls as and when the NBA begins its new season this week.
In addition to the company being the largest seller of smartphones and flat-panel televisions, the deal will also make Samsung one of the most visible brands during NBA games – a very strategic move for both organizations.
You may remember Jay-Z announcing his partnership with the brand during the NBA Finals in a unique situation where Samsung pre-purchased copies of his Magna Carta, Holy Grail album. We’re going to keep our eye on this company, we have a feeling that this isn’t the last we’ll see of their strategic deals.
