Jeffrey Atkins, known as Ja Rule, has been released from prison after serving out his sentences for illegal gun possession and tax evasion.
In 2010, the rapper was given a two year sentence after pleading guilty to criminal possession of a weapon that stemmed from a 2007 incident as and when cops found a loaded semi-automatic handgun in his car. In 2011, Ja Rule was also sentenced to 28 months behind bars for tax evasion after failing to pay more than $3 million on earnings from 2004 through 2006.
The 37-year-old rapper was released from the Ray Brook Federal Prison in New York this morning. Sources are reporting that he was picked up by his wife around 10 am and went straight home where he will be in a confinement unit July 28th.
