Frustrations of a College Grad

Graduating from college is an exciting, yet very scary milestone in a person’s life. With the troubling economy on many of our minds, more students are worried about life after graduation.

As a college student anticipating obtaining my second degree in August, this feeling is all too familiar. The thought of not being “good enough” for jobs or struggling for years to come puts a very dark cloud over a moment that is supposed to be monumental. While I’ve managed to control my anxiety and fear of failure, others around me are definitely feeling the pressure.

Guess What? I Colored My Natural Hair!!

One item on my 100 In a Year list was to dye my hair. I have always wanted to do it, I just didn’t have the courage!

I’m writing this post a little late, but about 2 weeks ago I got it colored at Magic Hands Salon in Hattiesburg by Liz. Even though we left the color on for about 25 minutes and added a lightener, my hair still didn’t change colors very much. Im debating on whether or not I should go back and get the look I was originally going for.

Trying to Do It All

Am I the only female out there guilty of trying to be Superwoman???

I have so many ideas and aspirations that sometimes its hard for me to focus on just one at a time. People often advise me to get one idea up and running and then move on to another. I appreciate advice because I am definitely not a “know-it-all” but at the same time, I also believe in “different strokes for different folks.”

Some people have the ability to multitask and not miss a beat or drop the ball and I happen to be one of them. Not to be boastful, but I enjoy the challenge of having a lot going on….especially when it all brings me money. I also think that if you have a lot of ideas or concepts going, one of them (hopefully more) is bound to work. Sometimes by only focusing on one thing before you move to another can set you up for failure, disappointment…or worse – stagnation.

I find my balance by keeping a planner in my purse at all times, my iCal synced with a very detailed to-do list and prayer! Keeping busy by working toward my goals motivates me even more because I can see and feel my progress. That sense of accomplishment is priceless. If I’m not careful though, I can get overwhelmed and stretch myself a little too thin…and it does happen from time to time. Fortunately, after a long day of relaxing and my favorite reality TV shows, I am able to regain my focus.

The moral of the story is that sometimes trying to do it all is not necessarily a bad thing. If you can do it all a little at a time, go for it! Do what works for you!
