Holidays are expensive, and Halloween can quickly become one of the more costly holidays if you’re trying to keep it cute. A quick glance on Yandy.com or any other aduItcostuming website will show you just how expensive some female costumes are. So what is a fashionista to do? Make your own, of course!
Keep reading for few cute ideas we found.
1. Greek goddess
This is one of the most simple costumes to put together! For this look, all you need to start is a sheet. Making a toga is super simple, and you can make it as festive or as simple as you’d like.
There are many ways to get this costume. You can pick between a long skirt or a pair of flared out jeans. The most difficult part of this costume is picking a shirt to go along with it and you have a couple of options as and when it comes to this. You can either make a tie dye shirt and pair it with the flared out jeans and sandals or use any colored tank from your closet.
3. Minion from Despicable Me
If you have some overalls this will be easy. Put a yellow shirt on underneath your overalls and pick up a yellow beanie. You can finish the look with black boots. If you want to go the extra mile, you can make your own goggles!
These girls are iconic, as are their clothes! Pick an outfit and pick your friends. From there, just decide which group member you want to be.
5. Rosie The Riveter
Put your hair up and wrap a red polka dot scarf to around it to work as a headband. Pull a denim shirt out and roll it up to your sleeves. This look is quick and iconic!
Who said you can’t be Beat Face Barbie? Make a large card board cut out pink and write Barbie over the bottom!
7. Audrey Hepburn
This one is cute and simple! You just need a black dress, a pair of sunglasses and pearls. To sell the look a little more, find something Tiffany Blue.
8. Beyonce from Flawless
This is super simple and all the Beyonce stans will love it. All you need is a red flannel shirt, light rinsed shorts and black boots. Throw some beach curls in your hair and you’re ready to go.
9. Mean Girls (The Talent Show scene)
Find a red long red dress in a similar shape. Attach a fur lining to the top and the bottom of the dress along with a belt. Pair this with a pair of leather boots and a Santa hat.
10. Katniss (The Hunger Games)
Grab a pair of green cargo pants, a pair of combat boots and a black v neck tee shirt. Put a black jacket over the shirt. Throw your hair in a long braid, and pair it with a homemade mockingjay pin.
11. Janelle Monae’
For all my natural girls this is a costume that many may overlook. Grab a pair of slacks, a button down, a tie and a blazer! Shape your hair into the same style as Janelle’s for a quick costume.
12. Justice from Poetic Justice
This one may be a stretch but to people who’ve seen the movie, Poetic Justice, it’ll be cute! Box braids are pretty much a necessity for this one. Put a large black hat over your box braids and dig a pair of high waist jeans out of your closet. Grab green long sleeved crop top to complete the look.
13. The Spice Girls
This is a group costume but if you have enough people it could be cute. Each friend each can take a different spice, pulling things out of your closet to create the outfits from the iconic promotional photo of Scary, Baby, Ginger, Posh and Sporty.
14. Britney Spears
We aren’t talking just any Britney. We’re talkin’ “…Baby One More Time” Britney! To accomplish this look use a cute black shirt along with a plain button down shirt, gray cardigan, and style your hair into two braided ponytails.
15. Where’s Walda
Just like Waldo, you can be Where’s Walda. Take a red and white striped shirt, blue jean shirt and black shoes along with a red and white hoodie.
16. A Broke College Student
And if all else fails? Put on your favorite cute and casual outfit and hang out on Halloween just like that. If you want extra points, carry around of piece of paper and write “Sallie Mae Loans” on the top of it.
