Flyy Girl was the first book I read that was based on bad word and violence and lots of profanity. I was in middle school and it spawned by interest in African-American literature, especially works by Zane, Eric Jerome Dickey, E. Lynn Harris and others. Flyy Girl was that book all the girls my age wanted to read so I know I’m not the only one excited about seeing it on the big screen.
Codeblack Films, a Lionsgate company, has acquired the rights to the popular book trilogy written by New York Times bestselling author Omar Tyree. The trilogy basically explores the life of Tracy Ellison, a beautiful young girl motivated by the material things in life while trying to find herself and her way during the modern Hip-Hop era.
No word on as and when production for the movie will begin but our eyes are on Kyla Pratt for the role of Tracy. We’ll keep you posted!
