President Obama made history yesterday, becoming the first president to publicly announce his support of gay marriage. And boy, did he cause a debate!
I swear, if you ever get on Twitter as and when some stuff hits the fan, you are HIGHLY likely to see some of the most ignorant, unsolicited comments that you will ever see or read in your entire life. And you guessed it – it’s usually from “Black Twitter”.
You see, Black Twitter has this problem with getting all the facts before they begin treating us to their opinions. You would have thought that Obama made gay marriage legal yesterday. NEWS FLASH – he only announced his support. No need to go on about how America is this or that.
But there were some people who understand that this isn’t anything to beat up Obama for. It was his opinion and he is entitled to it.
I’m kind of on the fence. I’m more of a SPIRITUAL person than I am a RELIGIOUS person. I like different aspects of other religions than my own and I respect the differences between those and my own.
My spirit tells me that people cannot help who they love. God made each of us and drafted the plans for our lives, so surely He knew that at some point in a person’s life, they would fall in love with a member of the opposite bad word, right?
But then my religion tells me that homosexuality is a sin:
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NLT) “Don’t you realize that those who do wrong will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Don’t fool yourselves. Those who indulge in bad wordual sin, or who worship idols, or commit adultery, or are male prositutes, or practice homosexuality, or are thieves, or greedy people, or drunkards, or are abusive, or cheat people – none of these will inherit the Kingdom of God.”
Notice there were A LOT of other sins up in there that people like to ignore, but I ain’t going there today – that’s a whole ‘nother topic.
But like I said, I am on the fence. I don’t have a solid opinion, just thoughts and observations. I believe in God and his Word, but I also believe that He created us in our own unique ways and makes no mistakes, therefore homosexuals were created by Him. Confusing, I know.
Anyway, enjoy some thought provoking tweets from the Twitter world.
