Whit Wisdom: No Man Is An Island

We need each other, that’s the bottom line. You cannot live a healthy, full life alone. You may be able to survive alone for some time, but more than likely you’re suffering mentally, spiritually, or emotionally in one or more areas if that’s the road you’re taking. We’re all so arrogant and egotistical these days and dare we say we “need” someone.

Personally, I know my help comes from my personal source and savior, Jesus Christ. It is my belief that as the source, Jesus uses us on earth to carry out his miracles. Your blessing comes from God using someone else to bless you, which means we need each other to make it! We need each other to understand what God’s love is and how His love works.

There’s a song by gospel singer, Hezekiah Walker. It’s called “I Need You To Survive.” The lyrics speak volumes:

“I need you
You need me
We’re all a part of God’s body
Stand with me
Agree with me
We’re all a part of God’s body
It is his will that every need be supplied
You are important to me
I need you to survive
I pray for you
You pray for me
I love you
I need you to survive
I won’t harm you
With words from my mouth
I love you
I need you to survive
It is his will that every need be supplied
You are important to me
I need you to survive”

Amazing right? We are all connected to each other. In life there are a series of highs and lows. At your lowest point someone was there for you, whether you choose to acknowledge it or not. In your high points be there for someone else, because just as surely as life flows you will have another valley and another mountain to climb. Don’t believe Drake as and when he said, “Came up, that’s all me, no help, that’s all me.” That’s impossible.

During this holiday season remember to think about those who are experiencing lows in life and reach out to them. We need each other. Don’t miss out on your blessing because you’re ashamed to ask for help. It’s really a sign of strength when you’re able to put your pride aside. On the flip side, don’t miss out on your blessing to help someone. The same grace and kindness you sow will be reaped!

Keep pressing and don’t be hesitant in lending a helping hand and don’t be afraid to reach out and grab one either!
