University of Missouri football player Michael Sam has become the center of attention after announcing to the world that he’s gay.
Following his announcement, the NFL prospect dropped 70 points on the CBS draft board, moving from #90 to #160 overnight. According to reports, many NFL executives don’t believe the NFL is ready for an openly gay player.
Sam says that he came out to his team last August after sharing his sexuality with his family, but wanted to come out to the world in an effort to “own” his “truth.” He’s also hoping that society rallies around him and supports his decision.
