JessicaSimien.com has a very short list of our favorite artists and Silas is one of them.
We’ve worked with him a lot over the course of the time our website has been in existence (see here, here and here) and we’re so happy to see him doing his thing and making really good music in the process.
In gearing up for his upcoming mixtape, Rap Revolt, he’s dropped a couple tracks that we think are pretty cool. “SomewhereinJUmerica” is his rendition of Jay Z‘s classic, “Somewhereinamerica.” Let me explain why he uses the term “Ju.” Where we’re from (Jackson, Miss.) people sometime refer to one another as “Ju”…it has nothing to do with their religion. Hell, I don’t even know where it came from. I just started hearing it all of sudden. New Orleans native Brent DeLarge capitalized on the phrase with a line of apparel he created while living in Jackson.
Silas also dropped “OG David Ruffin,” a version inspired by Que‘s “OG Bobby Johnson.” Check out both tracks below.
