Need Some Motivation To Exercise? This Post Is For You!

Summer is upon us and, if you haven’t been doing so already, you may be in the gym trying to get fine for the summertime. I know I need to get back at it. Jessica gave me the idea to make a list of motivational sayings and a workout playlist and I think it’s great! So here are some things to keep us going!

Quotes have always helpful to me. I used to keep inspirational quotes on my mirror in my apartment in Hattiesburg. Every morning, I’d read them as I brushed my teeth and fixed my hair. These quotes can apply to exercise and life in general. Try putting the quotes in a place where you’ll see them every day like your mirror or your closet door.

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started.” – Agatha Christie

“Energy and persistence conquer all things.” – Benjamin Franklin

“Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.” – Mahatma Gandhi

“Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.” – Arnold Schwarzenegger

“I may not be there yet, but I am closer than I was yesterday.”

And here’s a short playlist to start you off. This includes some songs that helped me last year, along with some new additions. Rap music motivates me the best, but I try to change it up.

1) “Mark McGwire” – Future

It’s loud and energetic and it got my adrenaline running.

2) “Crazy In Love” – Beyonce

I don’t want to be as small as Beyonce is now, but thinking about how she lost her baby weight motivates me.

3) “Stronger” – Kanye West

4) “Bootylicious” – Destiny’s Child

This is one of my favorite feel-good songs anyway, but it also helps to listen to it while doing squats or other booty exercises.

5) “Freedom” – George Michael

I enjoyed this one on the elliptical.

6) “The Pleasure Principle” – Janet Jackson

7) “Fighter” – Christina Aguilera

8) “Move That Dope” – Future feat. Pharrell, Pusha T & Cacin0

I’m pretty sure beefin’ it up burns calories.

I hope what I shared helps! I plan to use this as motivation to get back in the gym… Or at least exercise in my living room.
