Tauheed Epps, better known as 2 Chainz, sat down with CBS Local to discuss his secret to success – prayer.
Over the years the rapper has rebranded himself – from Tity Boi (a childhood name given to him because of his momma’s boy tendencies) to as we know him now, 2 Chainz.
His birth name, Tauheed Epps, means “unity with God, one with Allah,” he said during the interview and is telling of how influential his spirituality has been throughout his rise to fame.
He told CBS Local that his success is “God’s plan” and that he prays a lot. “When you pray a lot, you speak things into existence. When you believe as strong as I do, it changes your life.”
For those who feel that his profession of faith is the exact opposite of his public image he has this to say
“I’m not a preacher and not Tim Tebow, it’s the truth. I’m a real ni**a and I’m able to say it because I’m comfortable in my own skin. I don’t follow people. I know I pray everyday and that’s way I’m here. I just don’t act like I did all this sh*t on my own.”
2 Chainz’s debut album Based on a T.R.U. Story is available in store and on iTunes today!
