The Los Angeles Police Department is apologizing to the family of late rapper, Notorious B.I.G. for revealing the details of his long-sealed autopsy report without warning.
Detectives released the 15-year-old report last week in hopes of getting new tips in the unresolved murder according to the Los Angeles Times. The department said in an official statement Saturday that the detectives intended to notify the family, but failed to do so before the report was released.
The autopsy revealed that Biggie’s 1997 death was the result of a single bullet wound during a drive-by shooting.
