After temperatures in fell to freezing or below in all 50 states, a lake-effect snowstorm has dumped up to 4 feet of snow along the New York State Thruway on Tuesday, leaving about 150 vehicles and motorists stranded. Some have been in their cars, buses and trucks for almost 24 hours.
According to the Associated Press, meteorologists warned that the snow, which was generated by cold air blowing over the warmer Great Lakes, would continue to fall throughout Wednesday and could even total up to 6 feet in some places. New York Governor Andrew Coumo declared a State of Emergency and activated 150 members of the National Guard to help clear up roads and remove abandoned vehicles.
