J. Cole Premieres “Lights Please” Video After 5 Years, Announces Tour

Sunday marked the five year anniversary of J. Cole‘s second mixtape, The Warmup, which put him on the road to becoming a superstar. “Lights Please” was one of the standout mainstream tracks from the project (and one of my favorites) but was released without a visual, until now.

Five years after recording the video, in commemoration for The Warmup‘s anniversary, Cole has released the never-before-seen video. It was shot in August 2008, along with videos for “Lost Ones” (which we’ve seen) and “Simba.” Cole says his plan was to hold those songs and other songs for his debut album. If I’m not mistaken, the love interest in “Lights Please” is the same as the one in “Lost Ones.”

Following the debut of the video, he also announced that he’d be going on his Dollar & A Dream tour as well. The tour has six shows with stops in Raleigh, Miami and London to name a few.

Check out the video for “Lights Please” up top.
