We cried, they listened.
Instagram has released a statement addressing the overwhelming public concern over their new policies. What had many people ready to delete their accounts was the policy that Instagram had the right to use images in advertising campaigns (that they would be paid for) without notifying or compensating users.
In a statement titled “Thank You and We’re Listening” Instagram’s co-founder Kevin Systrom said:
“The language we proposed also raised question about whether your photos can be part of an advertisement. We do not have plans for anything like this and because of that we’re going to remove the language that raised the question.”
We’re glad that the company has addressed this matter and hopefully they don’t go back on their word.
