I believe that fear is one of the strongest emotions that a person can experience.
We generally feel fear as and when our bodies pick up on danger or a threat to our security and safety. It’s a emotional reaction…it’s our body’s way of protecting us. So, in some ways fear isn’t that bad of an emotion…but in others, it’s something you have to fight against.
During service today, my pastor said something that really resonated with me. He said:
“If you never take risks, you’ll never do anything great.”
Fear can paralyze you. It can keep you from reaching your full potential in everything – life, love, your career, your spiritual walk – everything. I’m speaking from personal experience. I’ve been afraid to travel and see new places, I’ve been afraid to fall in love, I’ve been afraid to pursue my dream career and I’ve been afraid to give my life to God.
I’ve learned to feel the fear and do it anyway.
I want to be great. I want greatness to abound in every aspect of my life. I’m a risk taker by nature but it doesn’t mean that it’s easy or it gets easier the more you do it. Sometimes, it gets harder.
“Fod God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” – 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV
If there’s something you want to do in life and you can’t stop thinking about it, go for it. Whether it’s allowing yourself to fall in love, expressing your deepest feelings, starting your own business, committing your life to Christ, taking a trip across the world – whatever.
Take the risk and be great. God will have your back every step of the way.
