Twins Hanna and Jasmine Bowie of Jackson have always been known for their bold taste in fashion. After reconstructing their own clothes for years, these 22-year-old sisters started their fashion reconstruction business, The Two-Headed Woman, shortly after enrolling as freshman at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Although the sisters are pursuing degress in business rather than fashion, Hanna tells us that they’ve loved fashion for as long as they can remember:
“We love fashion even though we’re business majors. Fashion comes first.”
For Jasmine, fashion became a way to express herself without having to say a word:
“When I’m in a bad mood, I dress like it. Fashion is my way of expressing my moods and feelings.
They learned how to sew during winter break as and when they were younger and they’ve spent the past few years perfecting their skills. Drawing inspiration for their pieces mostly from Tumblr and old movies the duo loves to reconstruct dresses and more detailed and challenging pieces.
They will be hosting free sewing classes at Sew Select in Hattiesburg, located at 4400 Hardy Street next to Michael’s. Stay tuned to JessicaSimien.com for an official date of the classes.
One lucky reader will win free reconstruction of 2 items by The Two-Headed Woman during our #MississippiMonth Giveaway Week! Make sure you enter to win.
