Students at Harvard have no love for Tyga.
The Young Money rapper is set to headline the university’s annual Yardfest concert on April 15th but students are protesting that he be removed from the lineup.
In an online petition started by Leah Reis-Dennis, a Harvard senior, is calling for the show organizers to remove the rapper from the show because of the “sexist” nature of his music and his promotion of “rape culture.” In the petition Reis-Dennis writes:
“Tyga is notorious for his explicitly and violently misogynistic lyrics. We demand that Harvard rescind its offer to Tyga, because we believe that Harvard should not provide a platform for music that promotes sexism and rape culture.”
The petition is addressed to Harvard’s Office of Student Life and at the time of press has 1,968 signatures. To read the petition in full, click here.
