Golden Koast (GK7) is known across the coast for their contributions to the charities, elderly and less fortunate around Mississippi. GK7’s purpose is to bring the community to an elite level by mentoring the youth with the goal to instill morals and values in their lives that they can carry down throughout various generations. GK7 also thrives to enhance the rise and prosperity of local businesses and non-profits that serves the Gulf Coast communities.
Today from 5-10 p.m. CST, GK7 is hosting their 5th Annual Beach Extravaganza to celebrate high school and college graduates. The event will take place on Highway 90 on the sandy beach of Biloxi, Miss. in front of Edgewater Mall. We had an opportunity to speak with the founders of Golden Koast to get more details about their organization and the event.
JESSICASIMIEN.COM: Can you tell us a little about GK7?
Chris Reese: GK7 is the organization and Beauties of the Shores and Golden Koast Knights are two out of four dividends inside of this organization. GK7 was started in 2007 by Rondale Joyner, Kris Killingsworth and myself. Their goal was to create a guy organization to create awareness in community involvement and to be a big brother to younger guys in need of guidance. Beauties of the Shore then developed in 2011 and was led and founded by Ronnika Ann Joyner. Beauties of the Shore is a group of sisters that focuses on the betterment of our communities, the younger generations and education
JESSICASIMIEN.COM: We see that the Beach Extravaganza is in its fifth year. What can guests expect this year that is different from past years?
Ronnika Joyner: We have both WLOX and JZ 94.5 planned to not only cover the event but attend. Each year this has grown with the attendees of the graduates but being able to have officials and public leaders attend really let us know that we are doing the right thing.
JESSICASIMIEN.COM: Who is this event catered to an what activities will take place?
Rondale Joyner: This year it caters to the 2014 graduates of high school and colleges all over the Gulf Coast and Brandon Pace, for his 21st birthday.
Ronnika Joyner: We are planning to hold volley ball tournaments, tug-of-war challenges and flag football games during the entire time.
