Even though I know I’m not going to post this for another day or so, maybe even a week, I had to write this now – while I’m still on the cloud I’ve been on for the last seven hours.
Tonight I sat down with a rising celebrity and hip hop artist by the name of Dee-1 for an interview about his career and you know, all the usual stuff. I was expecting him to talk about his music and how he got signed to RCA records but what I didn’t expect was to have a spiritual connection with him.
You can watch the interview on my YouTube page, but the real magic happened when I stopped by his meet and greet session following our interview.
I listened to him speak about his life purpose, when he first met God, how he feels that he is on assignment, how his debut single with the label is his “mission statement,” and I was in complete awe of how humble he is. Not only that, I was enamored with how unafraid and unapologetic he is about his relationship with God.
After he mixed and mingled with the audience, he and I ended up stepping to the side and having an awesome conversation about life and confirmations and how God gives us signs that we’re on the right track. I literally got chills up and down my arms as we talked about purpose (ya’ll know how big I am on that) and how as an artist, him taking the time to allow his fans to connect with him on a personal level spoke volumes about his character.
I even remember him saying that he just wants to do God’s will and if it isn’t in God’s plan for him to be this mega star, then he doesn’t want to be a mega star. Wow. That’s huge.
I usually don’t fraternize with anyone that I interview unless we had a prior friendship…but something made me do it tonight. Something made me pull him to the side and I’m so glad I did. We talked about a few other things and it was just an example of how I know for sure that God is working in my life. It’s like He’s handing me everything I’m praying for – everything.
And that’s why I’m on a cloud…because I know that everything is coming together and this is only the beginning.
