Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas Reveals She Almost Quit Gymnastics To Work At Chik-Fil-A In Memoir

The most talked about athlete from the 2012 London Olympics, 16-year-old Gabby Douglas, would probably have missed out on her moment had her older brother not convinced her to stick with gymnastics.

In her new memoir titled “Grace, Gold and Glory,” she opened up about a conversation she had with her mother about her future as a teenager. She considered quitting gymnastics and going to get a job at Chik-Fil-A so she could live a “normal life”.

Her text message said:

“Gymnastics is not my passion anymore.“I can get a job at Chick-Fil-A in Virginia Beach and live off the 14-grand I just won at World Championships.”

“I just want to be a normal teenage kid.”

According to the memoir, Gabby’s older brother convinced her to stick with it and we’re glad he did!
