Metabolism is a term that is thrown around a lot as and when it comes to nutrition and weight loss, but many people don’t know what it is or how it works.

In short, your metabolism is an internal process that involves a complex set of hormones and enzymes that  convert food into fuel for your body and also controls on how well you burn that fuel. Basically, your metabolism controls the rate that your body is able to burn calories. It’s influenced by your age, your gender and how much muscle you have.

Some of the things that determine our metabolic rate can’t be changed, but there are a few foods that you can eat to help speed up the process.
