I’ve been a fan of hotdogs since I was a little girl. Whenever I was at sporting events and there was a concession stand, I’d always choose a hotdog. (I still do now!) When we host our family barbecues, I’m always requesting that the chef adds more hotdogs to the grill so that I can eat them while we wait on the other foods to finish cooking. As a professional blogger, media strategist and mom I’m always on the go. Always. Many days, if I’m lucky enough to remember to eat, I’m eating in the car on the way to the office or home. Believe it or not, hotdogs are the perfect quick meal or snack for that.
Since I’ve pretty much established myself as a hotdog expert, now I can share how you can create the perfect hotdog combo for RaceTrac’s Dogtoberfest.
First things first, you’ve gotta start with the right hotdog. The roller grill is one of RaceTrac’s largest food service categories and it’s also where you’ll find different types of hotdogs (and other savory items) to choose from. My personal favorite is the Nathan’s Jalapeño and Cheese Hot Dog. I enjoy spicy foods that aren’t unbearable and this particular hot dog has just the right kick and extra added flavor all in one.
If flavored hotdogs aren’t your thing, you can also try the 100% beef hot dogs. If you’re feeling adventurous, the roller grill also offers a limited time only Guinness Beer Brat that you could dress according to your tastebuds.
After you’ve chosen your hot dog from the roller grill, then its time to top it with all your favorite condiments and dressings. RaceTrac’s Toppings Bar offers a number of different toppings like pico de gallo, onions, jalapeños, banana peppers, sauerkraut and more.
Since I chose the jalapeño and cheddar hot dog, I decided to play it a tad bit safe with the toppings. I can’t eat a hotdog without ketchup and mustard, so those were the first to go on. Then I added a few banana peppers and jalapeño pickles. I know it sounds super spicy but it wasn’t at all. It was just right. I was moving a little fast and overlooked the nacho cheese. That would’ve been the perfect addition!
Doesn’t my hotdog look delish?!
If I would’ve added the pico de gallo, I would’ve unknowingly created the RaceTrac original Wild West Dallas Dog recipe. They have three more original recipes that you can go in and try yourself.
The Big Easy Louisiana Dog: Beer brat and mustard
The Georgia On My Mind Dog: Nathan’s hot dog, coleslaw, onions and yellow mustard
The Hot ‘N Tropical Florida Dog: Nathan’s hot dog, salsa, banana peppers and mustard
