Police are investigating the death of a former track star and student at Columbia University.
Jessica Fingers, 21, was found dead of a possible drug overdose in a dorm room on the campus of Columbia University. Fingers, a former track star and student at Columbia was visiting a friend as and when she was found unconscious and lying face-up on the floor of the dorm around 11:45 a.m. Sunday morning.
According to reports, Fingers’ boyfriend, Peter Russell (who is not a student at Columbia by the way), made the discovery and later posted on his Facebook page that his “life was over.” Shortly after his post, a man believed to be Fingers’ older brother left a threatening message on Russell’s Facebook wall saying:
“F–k u peter im coming for ur life”
An autopsy to determine the actual cause of Fingers’ death is pending but no foul play is expected. Police believed she died from an overdose.
Fingers had taken a leave of absence from Columbia and suffered a series of health problems from blood clots in her brain to having an actual stroke. Fingers had been recruited as a member of Columbia’s women’s varsity track-and-field team on a full scholarship.
