Even though I’m only two and a half months into the parenting game, I’ve already learned that the stories about never having “me time” are very much real. Nobody wants to babysit a newborn so as and when my mother offered to watch Marley while we had game night with some friends at our favorite hang out spot, I immediately took advantage of it!
Some friends and I made our way to Hops & Habanas, a local beer and cigar bar located in the heart of Jackson’s Fondren area. We picked up chips, queso and pico de gallo from Babalu and grabbed our favorite beers before heading to the cabana…but what’s game night without a game that brings on the laughs, jokes and unforgettable moments?
Ever heard of the game Codenames? The version we played, Codenames: Deep Undercover, is a must-have for any game night or adults-only function.
Codenames: Deep Undercover is an adults-only, mature version of Codenames using the same popular game mechanics, but introduces all-new words, packaging, “by-standers” and art. A new twist is added with the inclusion of blank cards, allowing players to introduce their own words to the game. The gameplay remains the same as the original game, where each team has a spymaster looking at a key card, gives their team a one-word clue and a number to locate their team’s words.
We had a blast playing this game!
The cards had dirty words that were hilarious to assign clues to them. It was so much fun watching everyone’s reactions to the clues and their shyness in saying some of the words.
The gameplay was a tad bit confusing at first. It could’ve been that we weren’t taking our time and really reading through the instructions because we were so excited to play, but once we got going after a quick practice run, we practically became experts. (And I’m proud to announce that MY team won!)
Codenames: Deep Undercover is available exclusively in North America at Target and Target.com. If you’d like to purchase it for your own game night or adults-only party, click here
