Are you Clothes Minded?

Entrepreneur Timothy Orey (also known as Mr. European) of Jackson, Mississippi (by way of Chicago) is creating a movement. The 25-year-old “college dropout” took some time to talk with us about style and being his own boss. Check out our interview below.

JS: So Tim, what inspired you to start a clothing brand?

TO: I’ve always had the passion and desire to start my own brand, however, I never had the resources or the right mind frame. After I developed those two and was tired of spending money on other brands, me and my friends decided to create our own.

JS: Let’s get right into the logo and name for your brand. How did you guys come up with that? It’s so cool to me.

TO: I have great friends with creative minds, so the name and logo was very easy to create. Most people are closed minded about a number of different things…Which is why we chose to go with “Clothes Minded”….It represents more than just clothes.

JS: How would you describe your own personal style?

TO: 4. My personal style is very “Clothes Minded” Simple, creative, and fun. (laughing)

JS: What is it like being your own boss?

TO: Ever seen the Staples commercial featuring Dave? If so, well I’m Dave and I’m in need of a easy button (laughs). Overall, it’s exciting and challenging which makes this journey more memorable.

JS: Being your own boss comes with a lot of responsibility, but it’s always worth it in the end. So far, what has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned in starting your own business?

TO: There isn’t one. Everything I’ve learned amounts to the same. From customer service, to finances, even down to the packaging. Even the smallest things makes a difference.

JS: Do you have any advice for other young entrepreneurs?

TO: Yes. Follow your heart, perfect your craft, don’t be afraid to push the limit. Most importantly though, research your field UP and DOWN. Learn who came before you, what worked and didn’t work for them, you have to continue to educate yourself daily.

JS: Going back to your brand, you receive a lot of support from your peers. How does that make you feel?

TO: So far, the support has been tremendous, especially in such a short time frame. The love and support people are showing means more than they’ll ever know. That love helps push me as and when my brain feels fried.

JS: So 2013 is here. What can we expect from Clothes Minded?

TO: Expect the unexpected. Nothing but “limitless possibilities” for Clothes Minded in 2013 and years to come.
