After over 41 weeks of anticipation, the love of our lives arrived on April 9, 2017. Baby Marley Elijah has been the joy of our world since his arrival and today I’m sharing his birth story!
I’ve included a YouTube video if you’d rather watch than read but I’m going to try my best to recap the whole process from the beginning.
I know, this video is super old…but I still wanted to share some footage of our baby shower with you all.
If you don’t already know, I’ve given birth to our son (my labor and delivery story is coming soon) and he has stolen our hearts and somehow managed to make all of the people who’ve visited us fall in love with him. So that’s how old this video is.
But better late than never, right?
Disclaimer: Thank you For Two Fitness® for sending me a tank to review.
I talked about my hopes of having my baby before his due date in my last pregnancy update and even then, I thought I would at least have him on his due date. Again, I was wrong. I’m currently overdue at 40 weeks and 3 days pregnant and I’ve being trying everything to naturally induce labor.
From having intercourse to eating pineapples and even taking evening primrose, I’ve done everything the doctor suggested. The only thing that seems to make any difference in the way I feel physically has been exercising.
This post was totally supposed to be a video but I’m barely able to get anything done these days – the exhaustion is back (but we’ll get into that later) and I didn’t have many views on my last video update so I figured you all wouldn’t mind anyway.
I took a week (or maybe two) off from my blog and email with limited social media access because I just knew my baby would arrive early. Well, I didn’t know for sure, I was hoping he would. After listening to the predictions of my family and those closest to me, I’d had it in my head that he would come into the world at 37 1/2 weeks but…nah.
Can you guess one of the first things I did once the reality of being pregnant hit me?
I downloaded an app.
(Don’t judge me…it’s what millennials do, OK?)
Because I’m a first time mom-to-be, I literally knew nothing about the pregnancy experience. I didn’t understand exactly how pregnancies progress, what certain terms meant, what body changes and symptoms I would experience and the list goes on. Downloading a pregnancy app just made sense for me.
I chose to download the What To Expect app because of the popularity of its accompanying website. I downloaded several others but this was the first one I found to be useful – but it’s not without its pros and cons.
