Even though stretch marks don’t have the same stigma about them that they used to have, that doesn’t mean that you necessarily want them on your body. As someone who has had stretch marks on my hips and arms since middle school, I’m familiar with how they look, feel and their way of making you a little more self-conscious in certain types of clothing.
My familiarity with them and my desire to want to wear crop tops during the summer really inspired me to take extra care to protect my tummy from getting any during my pregnancy.
Wow, I’m really a mom… Not a pregnant and imagining what life will be like mom, but a diaper-changing, breastfeeding and my every other thought about my child kind of mom. Whew!
My son, Marley Elijah, made 1 week old yesterday and it’s still surreal that we have a little baby to take care of for the rest of our lives. On one hand it’s scary as scary can get and on the other, it’s magical. Before becoming a mother, I had ideas about how motherhood would actually feel but nothing could prepare me for the feeling itself. Even as I try to find the words, it’s difficult because so many come to mind.
Thank you to the Mississippi Natural Hair Expo for sponsoring this post. You can purchase tickets to the 2017 expo, presented by CURLS, being held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 here.
When you embark on a natural hair journey, be prepared for it to be one with many twists and turns. From finding the right products to learning all the slang associated with natural hair, you will literally feel like you’re being schooled.
I’ve been natural since April 2011 and I still find myself learning new things about my hair. I’ve tried so many different styles, I’ve experimented with color and I’ve even cut it several times. I’ve also attended more (and hosted my own) natural hair related events than I can count and that’s where the real learning takes place.
Warning: This post contains spoilers up to Season 6.
Since taking a maternity leave, I’ve had lots of time (mostly during the wee hours of the morning) to relax and keep myself awake while my newborn sleeps. I decided to binge watch Shameless on Netflix – and now I’m angry that I’ve finished the series and how much the characters made me think and feel, as if I don’t have all the feels already! LOL
Anyway, I was so upset after getting into Season 4 that I decided I would write about the show in the hopes that someone can make me like Debbie again. *rolls eyes*
I know, this video is super old…but I still wanted to share some footage of our baby shower with you all.
If you don’t already know, I’ve given birth to our son (my labor and delivery story is coming soon) and he has stolen our hearts and somehow managed to make all of the people who’ve visited us fall in love with him. So that’s how old this video is.
But better late than never, right?
