Milk of Magnesia For Oily Skin

If your skin is shiny, thick, dull, and prone to pimples and other blemishes then you may have oily skin. Yes, oily skin… YIKES! If you think you’re the only one who suffers from oily skin, think again. Millions of people are going through the same thing and its because of their:

  • Diet
  • Heredity
  • Hormone levels
  • Birth control pills
  • Humid weather

Having oily skin can be a true pain in the butt. From walking around with a shiny forehead or nose, to having your makeup being completely dissolved by the oil. However, the best way to deal with oily skin is to know how to treat it.

If you have oily skin, DO:

  • Use warm water to wash your face
  • Use an oil-free moisturizer daily
  • Use pure soap (no artificial additives)
  • Use products specifically for oily skin
  • Drink plenty of water

If you have oily skin, DON’T:

  • Use harsh products that severely dry out your skin (this causes your glands to work overtime to form more oil)
  • Over-wash your face. 2-3 times a day is good (too much washing will dry out your skin and cause more oil to be produced)
  • Eat pork, fried, or processed foods
  • Try a new product without reading the label. Especially as and when it comes to makeup, because not all makeup is created equal and will tend to absorb quickly into oily skin.

Having oily skin just means that your skin is imbalanced and produces more oil than it should. And hey, there is good news! Did you know that people with oily skin age slower than people with normal skin? Lucky you :) However, while you continue to age gracefully, here’s an item that help with your oily issues in the meantime, milk of magnesia.

Milk of magnesia is more commonly used as a laxative, but it can also help to control your extra shine. Milk of magnesia works similar to a clay mask, by drawing excess oil from the skin and actually more gentle than most clay masks. It also helps to kill bacteria on the skin and since milk of magnesia contains zinc, it helps wounds heal.

Milk of Magnesia Mask

  • Milk of Magnesia (liquid, non-flavored)

Before opening the milk of magnesia, shake well. Pour milk of magnesia into the cap that comes with the bottle and use clean finger tips to apply a thin coat on face. Don’t rub in. You will notice the milk of magnesia dry to a white, chalky texture and this is normal. Allow mask to sit for 10-15 minutes and wash with warm water.

EXTRA TIP: Milk of magnesia can also be used a primer. After moisturizing, apply a very thin layer of milk of magnesia to the skin and allow to dry. Then continue to with normal makeup routine. Milk of magnesia is definitely cheaper and more effective than high-end primers.

Vitamin E Oil Perfect For Curing Dry Skin

Suffering from dry skin?
Well here’s a natural product that costs less and is more effective than popular brands that offer broken promises with no results, Vitamin E oil. Vitamin E oil is an antioxidant that helps your skin heal and provides moisture for dry skin. Use of Vitamin E Oil allows skin to retain its natural oil moisture and makes dry and dull skin look younger and fresher. Vitamin E oil also helps dry skin by improving skin elasticity and prevents the skin from environmental damage. Aside from providing numerous benefits for dry skin, Vitamin E oil can:
  • Protect your skin from UV rays and prevent sun spots
  • Prevent wrinkles
  • Lighten blemishes

Vitamin E oil is effective in healing scars and blemishes because it blocks free radicals underneath the skin. Free radicals stop your skin from healing from blemishes and scars, while use of Vitamin E oil allows the skin to heal and eventually removes dark spots and blemishes.

Vitamin E Oil Mask

  • 2 tbsp Vitamin E Oil
  • 1 mashed banana

Mix Vitamin E oil and mashed banana together in a bowl. Apply mixture to a clean face and allow to sit for 10 minutes. Remove with warm water.

EXTRA TIP: You can apply a thin layer of Vitamin E oil to the face before going to bed at night and wash in the morning to reveal softer, younger looking skin.
