Movie: The Hunger Games
Let me start by saying that I’m really upset with everyone who has ever seen this movie and did not tell me how good it is!
Last night I couldn’t go straight to sleep so I decided to catch a movie on Netflix and randomly clicked on The Hunger Games. The 2012 film is based in a dystopian society, which is the total opposite of a utopia. The nation, Panem, that the movie takes place in is pretty much under a dictatorship type of government and everyone lives in fear. It’s supposed to be a future North America (let’s hope not). Anyway, Panem is divided into 12 districts and every year two teenagers from each district (one male and one female) are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games.
Overall, the games are brutal and unfit for any teenager. The only way you can win is if all the other participants die. To make matters worse, the games are televised throughout the nation and your family/district watches you compete.
The movie stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen and she was awesome. I remembered her from one of the X-Men movies but she really did a great job in this one. Now that I’ve seen the first installment of the series, I’m going to have to check out the next one that just hit theaters.
