10 Million Burgers Recalled For Horsemeat Contamination

Meat Prices Expected To Increase Higher Due To Midwest Flooding

Approximately 10 million burgers were recalled from supermarkets in Ireland and Britain Tuesday after an Irish meat processing company found traces of horsemeat in over a third of beef patties that were tested.

According to Patrick Wall, a public health professor and former chairman of the European Union FDA, the horsemeat does not pose a threat to consumers:

“Consumers have a right to know exactly what is in their food, even though in this case there’s nothing dangerous about horsemeat.”

This recall is not expected to cause a lot of damage to the Ireland food market because in many parts of Europe horsemeat is considered a delicacy.
